Dapo Olajuwon’s EPL prediction: Game Week 36

Brentford vs Southampton- over 1.5 (Tip: 1-1)
These two teams are safe enough, not to worry about relegation as they’ve both got 40 points. They both lost last time out but I have a different thought about Brentford because of their current form. I know they will want to bounce back from their 3-0 loss to Man Utd while Southampton are a team that can suddenly produce a good result after a run of poor form. So this makes it hard to predict but I think this fixture has a draw written all over it.

Burnley vs Aston Villa- under 3.5 (Tip: 1-1)
Burnley are going into this game with 3 consecutive wins, so they should be so confident. Aston Villa just got their 1st win in a while after defeating Norwich last weekend but I don’t think they can continue the victorious run considering the momentum Burnley are coming with, and again, it is Turf Mor. Burnley are always hard to play against at home and if you think they should win this also to make it 4 consecutive wins, I don’t think it would be easy. But they might be lucky.

Chelsea vs Wolves- 1X (Tip: 1-0)
I’ve never seen Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea so poor as they were last time out against Everton. They were like the sheep while the Toffees were the lion at the Goodison Park. Wolves, on the other hand, have been poor and they’ve lost their last 3 games. They are not solid and compact at the back anymore and are also not a handful going forward. I think this should be a win or draw for Chelsea despite the Blues giving me a lot of doubt at the moment.

Crystal Palace vs Watford- 1X (Tip: 2-1)
Watford have lost their last 5 games and it is hard to make any case for them despite Roy Hodgson announcing his retirement. He will be well welcomed at Selhurst Park being the former club he managed. I think they will go back to Championship with Norwich; it is only a matter of time for confirmation. What does Crystal Palace have to play for? To finish higher the table or to show their manager, Patrick Vieira that they are reliable? Sometimes you derive joy from flexing your muscles and showing yourself off. I think the Eagles will like to flex their muscles and get something out of this game. If you finish the season well on a good run, it helps you to attract good players in the transfer window.

Brighton vs Man Utd- 2 (Tip: 0-2)
Man Utd’s condition has no pressure anymore because their top race is over and they will now be playing with freedom like they did last time out against Brentford. Their last victory was an impressive one and I think we should get a similar outcome here because Brighton do not score goals. I don’t know how you are going to win games if you can’t score goals. Also, Brighton’s home form has been poor this season. They’ve got fewer points at home than they have gotten on the road which is why I find it hard to make a case for them here.

Liverpool vs Tottenham- 1X (Tip: 2-1)
Tottenham, on the road, are not really what they are at home. They don’t play better on the road compared to when they are at home. They will travel to Anfield here and I think they will stress the Liverpool’s defense as the combination of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son will be a handful and can be threatening always. Some people might be thinking that fatigue should set in for the Reds but I think Jurgen Klopp’s got the squad depth and I’d start Luis Diaz for this game if I were him. I think Liverpool will manage the cross the line and get the job done.

Arsenal vs Leeds Utd- 1X (Tip: 2-1)
Arsenal would have known the Spurs’ outcome at Anfield before they play this one and whatever the outcome is, they’ve got to focus on winning this one to extend their lead and assurance of the top 4 before both of them face on Thursday. I think this is the game that would most likely determine Arsenal’s fate. Leeds Utd, on the other hand, have a reason to play their breathe out here because they have been dragged into the relegation battle. They’ve never been this vulnerable under Jesse Marsch. For this reason, I think they will be on the offensive foot which is going to open them up at the back. So it will be down to how well, and how many chances Arsenal can convert into goals.

Leicester vs Everton- under 3.5 (Tip: 1-1)
I have a feeling that Everton can get something out of this game even though they’ve got the worst away record in the PL this season. Leicester have been so up and down this season. The Foxes have suffered from injury blows mostly and also from the fixtures congestion due to their European competition participation. It has never been easy to play twice a week – Thursday & Sunday precisely. If Everton could repeat the same performance they had against Chelsea last time out, they would win or draw this game.

Norwich vs West Ham- 2X (Tip: 1-2)
Norwich have been officially relegated but they will still want to put a smile on the face of their fans. They won’t just relax and let you beat them anyhow or lose without a fight.
David Moyes hasn’t played his strongest team in the PL for a while because of the Europa League. But no matter the setup here, West Ham will capitalize on winning this match for their way back up since they’ve been knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night. It was a good campaign to get to the semi-final but they’ve got to focus on the league now.

Man City vs Newcastle- 1 (Tip: 3-1)
Man City are out of the UCL and the only trophy they can cling to is the EPL which is their full focus now. Pep Guardiola would have been furious at his boys and would be expecting a reaction/bounce back from them here because they know, we know, and everybody knows that any slip-up, they are going to lose the league title. So I think they will come out here to play like it is their cup final game and that’s how they are going to continue to play. Newcastle are a good team, but the difference in quality is what is going to separate them here.
