DERBIES AND RIVALRIES
The following are the derbies and rivalries we will be having in the 2023/2024 Season amongst the Premier League clubs.
1. West Midlands Derby – Aston Villa vs Wolves
2. West London Derby – Chelsea vs Fulham
3. M23/A23/23 Derby – Crystal Palace vs Brighton; some claimed that it is the M23 Derby (by media influence) while some claimed that it is the A23 Derby (by the road that connects the two clubs). Hence, it has now been resolved to be the 23 Derby.
4. Merseyside Derby – Liverpool vs Everton
5. London Derby – Arsenal vs Chelsea; the bragging right of which club is the ‘Pride of London’ is the issue here.
6. North London Derby – Arsenal vs Tottenham
7. Manchester Derby – Man City vs Man Utd; it’s about the color of Manchester. Manchester is either Blue or Red at the end of this clash.
RIVALRIES
There are some other clubs in the Lancashire region that have their own strong and combative rivalries apart from the major Lancashire derbies between Bolton, Blackburn, and Wigan which are now referred to as Derbies. They include:
8. North West Derby – Man Utd vs Liverpool; virtually this should be a Lancashire derby between two North Western clubs but no one thinks of it as that. It’s a clash between the two most successful clubs and the greatest rivalry in the history of English football.
9. Modern Derby/Rivalry – Man City vs Liverpool; similar to Man Utd vs Liverpool. It is a rivalry born out of competition, according to BET MGM | THE ROAR.
It’s a clash between the two most successful North Western clubs in recent years. As a result, it has become a rivalry as it gets more tense and heated year by year due to the success of Man City in recent years.
Distinctively, Man City have developed an incredible rivalry with Liverpool, currently regarded as one of the most interesting in football.
